Academic faculty, alumni, students and researches are able to conduct experiments and collect data using applications of their choice. Computing resources can be located in offices, homes and various remote research organizations. Examples of "grid" computing implementations include:
  • The Open Science Grid Consortium
  • The European Virtual Engineering Network
  • The Globus Alliance

  • It provides the small business an independent platform for testing and evaluating IT products that will support strategic business objectives. It integrates with existing test and verification environments. Application possibilities include:
  • Testing the upgrade process of Operating System, Database and application products.
  • Evaluating newly released IT products.
  • Design and document disaster recovery processes and procedures.
  • Train IT support staff.

  • Civic and Work Force Development organizations are also encouraged to participate and utilize the resources. Possible usages include:
  • Professional development for displaced and unempoyed workers.
  • Develop and test a small business e-commerce plan.
  • Support web pages for non-profit organizations.
  • House various public records for local municipalities.
